CEDAR CITY, Utah-Monday, Southern Utah University freshman receiver Zach Mitchell was named as the United Athletic Conference Freshman Player of the Week for his performance in the Thunderbirds’ 41-16 loss to BYU.

Mitchell, a native of Boston, recorded 7 receptions for 135 yards against the Cougars.

This season, Mitchell has 11 receptions for 187 yards and a score.

Mitchell and his Thunderbirds teammates return to action Saturday at UC-Davis.
