Maloy Wins CD-2 GOP Nomination

(St. George, UT) — Congressman Chris Stewart’s former aide, Celeste Maloy, has won the Republican nomination in the race to take his place in the U.S. House after he resigns next week. Maloy took more than 38-percent of the vote in the sprawling district that includes Washington and Iron counties. Former state lawmaker Becky Edwards conceded just before 6 p.m. Wednesday when returns showed she would not be able to close the three-percentage gap separating her and Maloy. Businessman Bruce Hough ran third with just over 26-percent. Maloy will be favored over Democratic state lawmaker Kathleen Riebe in the November 21st general election.
