McAllen Texas Temple Open House Begins

MCALLEN, Texas-Monday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed an open house of its temple at McAllen Texas has begun. Media and guests are touring the temple August 21-24 with the open house to the public beginning August 25.

This will run through September 9 with the exception of Sundays. The temple will be dedicated by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles Sunday October 8 in two sessions.

This is the fifth Texas temple to be completed by the Salt Lake City-based faith.

Other temples in Texas are located in Dallas (1984; rededication 1989), Houston (2000), Lubbock (2002) and San Antonio (2005).

The Church has 78 stakes in Texas and 378,281 members.
