Record Runoff Not Enough To Save Great Salt Lake

(Salt Lake City, UT) — State officials say the record runoff isn’t enough to save the Great Salt Lake. The Great Salt Lake Coordinator said the increased water levels have brought the state more time to implement more long-term solutions. Officials say water levels rose about five and a half feet from record lows of last year. A Professor of Ecosystem Ecology said the air quality, biodiversity and the water security all depend on a healthy lake ecosystem. Officials say residents need to continue conserving and the state needs to ensure that enough water is conserved to be sent to the lake in times of drought.
