Jeff Monaco, Brad Sorensen, Among SUU Hall of Fame Inductees

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Per Tuesday news, former men’s basketball star Jeff Monaco and former football standout Brad Sorensen are among the inductees in the Southern Utah University 2023 Hall of Fame Class.

Monaco, a former guard for the Thunderbirds from 1997-2001, posted 13.5 points per game during his career. His most successful season was in the 2000-01 season when he averaged 17.5 points per game.

That season, he played a key role in leading SUU to the sole NCAA Tournament appearance in school history to date as the No. 15 seed Thunderbirds nearly upset No. 2 Boston College in the first round.

Sorensen, a former star quarterback, played for the Thunderbirds from 2010-12.

Sorensen completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 9,445 yards and 61 touchdown passes and 21 interceptions during his career with the Thunderbirds.

Sorensen was drafted in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.
