Utah Department Of Public Safety Appoints New Deputy Commissioner

SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, The Utah Department of Public Safety appointed a new deputy commissioner to oversee emergency medical services and the state’s school safety program.

Commissioner Jess Anderson promoted former Utah Highway Patrol Maj. Beau Mason to the position.

This role will now also accommodate additional responsibilities overseen by the department.

Mason has 19 years of previous service in Utah state responsibilities and commanded the operation Rio Grande which led to the arrest of 387 drug dealers in 2019.

He has also previously served as Anderson’s executive officer.

Mason is a graduate of Southern Utah University in criminal justice. He also obtained a Master’s degree in leadership from Grand Canyon University of Phoenix.
