Big 12 Releases Annual Football Preseason Media Poll; BYU is 11th

IRVING, Texas-Thursday, the Big 12 released its annual football preseason media poll with BYU ranked No. 11 in their inaugural season in the conference.

The Cougars are coming off of an 8-5 season that included wins over No. 9 Baylor, Boise State and Stanford.

The Cougars are returning five offensive starters, including redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia, who was named to the 2023 preseason all-Big 12 football team.

Defensively, BYU returns eight starters.

The preseason standings for the Big 12 are as follows:

  1. Texas-886 points, 41 first-place votes
  2. Kansas State-858 points, 14 first-place votes
  3. Oklahoma-758 points, 4 first-place votes
  4. Texas Tech-729 points, 4 first-place votes
  5. Texas Christian-727 points, 3 first-place votes
  6. Baylor-572 points
  7. Oklahoma State-470 points, 1 first-place vote
  8. Central Florida-463 points
  9. Kansas-461 points
  10. Iowa State-334 points
  11. BYU-318 points
  12. Houston-215 points
  13. Cincinnati-202 points
  14. West Virginia-129 points
