SALT LAKE CITY-Per news from earlier this week, Utah Solicitor General Melissa Holyoak was named as the new commissioner of the Federal Trades Commission by United States President Joe Biden.
Biden made the announcement Monday, selecting Holyoak to fill a Republican seat on the board of commissioners.
A White House press release stated Holyoak is “an experienced litigator.” Through her 20 years of service, the press release continued, much of her practice is focused on “consumer protection.”
Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes called Holyoak “a remarkable public servant.”
Presently, the three FTC commissioners are Democrats: Alvaro Bedoya, Rebecca Slaughter and Lina Khan.
