PROVO, Utah-Per news released this past Saturday evening, Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi announced the Provo Airport will host international flights in remarks during the annual Stadium of Fire Independence Day celebration at Lavell Edwards Stadium.

Kaufusi did not clarify which airline at the airport would be assuming international flights or what countries would be included in the flights.

Salt Lake City-based Breeze Airways has filed an application with the Department of Transportation to request a certificate of public convenience and necessity which would authorize the airline to offer international flights.

The filing reveals if authorization is granted, the first international flight would be to Mexico.
