(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Disability Law Center is calling on lawmakers to better regulate long-term care facilities in Utah. The nonprofit organization recently put out a new report that highlights a pattern of neglect and mistreatment at long-term care facilities across the state. It says urgent reform is needed to protect vulnerable populations and ensure these facilities are providing quality care. This comes after the owners of a group home for men in Midvale were hit with neglect and exploitation charges. The home was shutdown due to unsanitary and unsafe conditions after a resident died at the facility last year.
