HEBER CITY, Utah-Per Tuesday news, Wasatch County residents are now being recommended, via The National Weather Service, to return their sandbags as the flooding season has drawn to a close.
The disposal of sandbags can occur at the following locations:
Wasatch County Public Works: 1891 W. 300 South, Heber City
Monday-Friday: 8:00 am-3:00 pm
Heber City Public Works: 749 W. 300 South, Heber City
Monday-Thursday: 7:30 am-6:00 pm
Midway City Public Works: 75 N. 100 West, Midway
Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am-4:00 pm
There will be two bins for community use at these locations. It is requested the sand be dumped out of the bags in the large container. The used bags should be placed in the small dumpsters.
Sand or sandbags that have been in contact with floodwater should specifically not be reused in ways involving direct, human contact, such as sandboxes or playgrounds.
Basic safety precautions (wearing gloves, long pants and long sleeves) are encouraged to be worn when disposing of sandbags.
If residents believe sandbags have come in contact with sewage, fuels or other non-household chemicals, contact Wasatch County Environmental Health at 657-3264.
Residents physically unable to dispose of their sandbags can request help by emailing em@wasatchutah.gov.
