Protest Over Removal Of Bible From Utah Library Held At State Capitol

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Protesters are criticizing a Utah school district over the decision to remove the Bible from some of its libraries. Dozens of protesters showed up at the State Capitol yesterday to blast the decision by the Davis School District and demand that the book be returned to all school libraries. The book was removed after being challenged under a state law passed last year. The sponsor of the law told protesters yesterday that the school district violated the spirit of his legislation. Republican Representative Ken Ivory of West Jordan asked Governor Cox to call a special session of the state legislature so that lawmakers could revise the law and prevent further challenges to the Bible and other religious works.
