(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah has set a new record for winter visits to state ski areas and resorts. Ski Utah says just over seven-million skiers came to the state during the 2022-23 ski season. That’s up 22-percent from the record set last year. Ski Utah says those visits resulted in a windfall for the state economy, with skiers spending two-and-a-half billion dollars during their winter trips. That number could increase soon, as a development company plans to open a new ski resort in Wasatch County called Mayflower Mountain. The company expects lifts at the new resort to open sometime next year.
