SUGAR LAND, Texas-Pedro Leon and Luke Berryhill each homered and the Sugar Land Space Cowboys overcame a late Salt Lake Bees run to prevail 5-4 and win the series Sunday at Constellation Field. Berryhill’s homer gave the Space Cowboys a 5-0 lead in the 4th Inning before the Bees’ furious comeback fell short. Kyle McGowin earned the win on the mound for the Cowboys by posting four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. He is now 1-0 on the season. Taylor Jones homered in the loss for the Bees. Sugar Land improved to 22-28 on the season with the win while Salt Lake fell to 22-29 in defeat. The Bees return to action Tuesday by hosting the Albuquerque Isotopes for a six-game series at Smith’s Ballpark.

Pioneer League

OGDEN, Utah-Ron Washington Jr. and Kokko Figueiredo each homered and the Grand Junction Jackalopes concluded their season-opening series against Ogden with an 8-6 win over the Raptors Sunday at Lindquist Field.

Jimmy Dobrash posted two strikeouts in two innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Jackalopes, who improved to 2-4.

Salvatore Gozzo homered in the loss for the Raptors, as they fell to 4-2 with the loss.

Ogden returns to action Tuesday for a six-game series at Boise.
