Elder Alvin F. Meredith III Named As President of BYU-Idaho Tuesday

REXBURG, Idaho-Tuesday, Elder Alvin F. Meredith III of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was named as the 18th president of BYU Idaho per reports.

Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of the Church made the announcement during a BYU-Idaho devotional.

He replaces outgoing president Henry J. Eyring who had served in this role since April 2017.

Pres. Eyring has been asked by the Church to return to the Marriott School of Business at the BYU campus in Provo.

Elder Meredith is a native of Chattanooga, Tenn. and became a General Authority April 3, 2021.

Elder Meredith has earned a degree from BYU and the University of Chicago.
