On March 11th at approximately 11:15 a.m., the Wasatch County 911 Center received a call reporting a helicopter crash on Strawberry Reservoir near the marina.
Wasatch County FIRE/EMS, State Park, Search and Rescue, and Deputies responded.
It was determined that the pilot was attempting to make a low pass over the snowy lake and was disoriented by the glare of the snow. The helicopter’s wheels made contact with the snow, causing the helicopter to crash, tumbling for several yards across the lake.
The two occupants of the helicopter were able to extract themselves from the aircraft, sustained only minor injuries, and were treated and released at the scene. The helicopter was a total loss.
