Gunnison Valley Hospital Ambulance Overturned near Nephi

A Sanpete County ambulance lost control and overturned near Nephi early Tuesday morning, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The Gunnison Valley Hospital ambulance was transporting a prisoner from the Central Utah Correctional facility to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for medical care, January 10.

At 5:10 am the ambulance lost control on the 222 northbound on-ramp for Interstate 15. UHP says the roads were icy and slick at the time and the driver said he was traveling 25 mph.

UHP Sgt. Corey Houskeeper said, “ The ambulance slid sideways onto the soft shoulder and rolled, landing on its top.”

No one was injured in the crash but the patient was suspended in the cot and had to be lowered before he was taken the rest of the way to UVRMC by Nephi EMTs.
