Utah Sees Nearly 300 Highway Deaths In 2016

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Newly released Department of Public Safety data shows that for 2016 there were 280 traffic-related deaths on Utah’s highways. The state Public Safety office says more than 90-percent of the deaths were caused by human error such as driving distracted, including while texting or driving while impaired in some way by substance use. The report also says more than 20-percent of those dead on Utah highways in 2016 were teenagers.
