Hunter Thomas had 12 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Raiders. Merit next plays in the Thursday nightcap at the Sevier Valley Center in the 8:30 pm window for the quarterfinals.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Trey Barney amassed 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists as the Panguitch Bobcats steamrolled Piute 52-33 in the first round of the 1-A state tournament Wednesday at the Sevier Valley Center. Beau Sylvester had 10 points in the loss for the Thunderbirds. Panguitch next faces Merit Thursday at 8:30 pm in the quarterfinals. RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Austyn Brinkerhoff posted 32 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists while successfully somersaulting after a loose ball over the scorer’s table as Bryce Valley bested Duchesne 63-58 at the Sevier Valley Center in the first round of the 1-A state tournament. Tate Leech added 18 points and 11 rebounds on 7-12 shooting for the Mustangs who will play in the Thursday quarterfinals at 7:00 p.m. Chad Lewis had 15 points in the loss for the Eagles.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Matt Morton posted 23 points on 11-16 from the field as the St. Joseph Jayhawks hammered Diamond Ranch 81-45 to close out the top half of the bracket in the 1-A state tournament at the Sevier Valley Center Wednesday. The Jayhawks shot 37-60 (61.7 percent) for the game en route to the easy win. Davis Harrison had 13 points in the loss for the Diamondbacks. St. Joseph next draws Bryce Valley Thursday at 7:00 pm in the 1-A state quarterfinals. This game can be heard on KMGR Classy-FM.

Carson Duncan had 13 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for the Buckaroos. Wayne next faces Valley Thursday at 4:00 pm in the 1-A state quarterfinals.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Cobe Reck amassed 25 points and 7 rebounds on 8-14 shooting from the field while the Valley Buffaloes pounded Intermountain Christian 70-39 in the 1-A state tournament’s first round Wednesday at the Sevier Valley Center. Jonathan Lathrop’s 12 points led the Lions in defeat.
