Peyton Torgerson of North Sevier High School has been nominated for the Governor’s State of Sport Award High School Female Athlete of the Year by the Utah Sports Commission.
Torgerson is a three sport athlete for North Sevier as she competes in volleyball, basketball and track & field. The sports commission highlights the following achievements:
* Basketball: 17.4 PPG, 8.9 APG, 4.3 APG … Deseret News 2A MVP & All-Tournament Team … Salt Lake Tribune 2A First Team … Southern Utah University signee.
* Volleyball: Salt Lake Tribune First Team … Deseret News First Team … Utah Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star Game
* Track: 400m State Champion (57.38s) … 800m State Champion (2:14.93s) … School Record Holder in 400m & 800m.
In addition, Torgerson was also named the Mid-Utah Radio Girls Basketball Player of the Year last year.
The other female athletes nominated for this year’s award are Dani Barton from Brighton, Livia Borges of Layton, Cambrie Hazel of Spanish Fork, Kate Hunter from Provo, and Olivia Wade of Davis.

The Governor’s State of Sport Awards began in 2012 and since that time central and south central Utah has been well represented.
In 2016 Whittni Orton of Panguitch was the Female Athlete of the Year and the Panguitch girls basketball team was the Team of the Year.
