(Salt Lake City, UT) – State officials say the federal government has reimbursed Utah for costs associated with a 2015 Colorado mine accident. The “Deseret News” reports that the state has been paid over 460-thousand-dollars by the EPA for expenses related to the Gold King Mine spill. The spill sent sludge containing lead and arsenic into a Colorado river and forced Utah to monitor Lake Powell to determine the effects of contaminated sediment. The state is still considering a lawsuit to force the EPA to pay for other costs and damages.Â
