CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP)-Friday, notwithstanding rainy and stormy conditions at Cedar High School, the Cedar Invitational still commenced, featuring various schools throughout southern Utah.

After four scored events, the Desert Hills girls team leads with 46.5 points as Box Elder is in second with 41 points.

For the boys, Hurricane has a huge lead over second-place Cedar, 71-37.

For the girls, Shanee Harris of Box Elder won the girls’ 1600-meter run title in a time of 5:25.51.

The girls’ medley saw the Cedar Lady Reds take the title on their home track in a time of 4:25.23.

In the girls’ discus, Box Elder’s Addisyn Peacock won the title with a toss of 115-06 feet. Rounding out individual champions for the girls Friday was Desert Hills’ Jessica Harris with a leap of 5 feet 2 inches.

For the boys, Hurricane’s Caleb Armstrong won the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:33.80. Hurricane’s boys also won the medley relay, posting first with a time of 3:40.81.

Trenton Maurer of Cedar won the boys’ javelin title with a toss of 171-08 feet while Hurricane’s Robert Campbell took the boys’ shot put crown with a toss of 51-04.50 feet.

Finally, in the boys’ long jump final, Cedar’s Dylan Clements took the title with a leap of 21.08-50 feet.

The meet resumes Saturday.
