Isaiah Thomas scored 33 points and had nine assists as the Celts rallied from an early 16-0 deficit to beat Washington, 123-11 in Game 1 of the second-round series. The Jazz got 26 points from Gordon Hayward in taking Game 7 of their opening-round series against the Clippers, 104-91 in Los Angeles.

UNDATED (AP) — The Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers have two-games-to-one leads in their respective Stanley Cup, second-round series following yesterday’s action. Ryan Ellis, Cody McLeod and Roman Josi (YOH’-see) did the scoring for the Predators in a 3-1 win over St. Louis. The Anaheim Ducks finally beat the Oilers as Jakob Silfverberg (SIL’-vur-burg) scored twice in a 6-3 win at Edmonton.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Anthony Rendon homered three times and set a franchise record with 10 RBIs as the Washington Nationals destroyed the New York Mets, 23-5 to salvage the finale of a three-game series. Rendon is the 13th player in major league history with at least 10 ribbies in a game, and the first in 10 years. Mets starter Noah Syndergaard (SIHN’-dur-gahrd) had to leave the game in the second inning and will undergo an MRI for what the club called “a possible right lat strain.”

HOUSTON (AP) — Astros ace Dallas Keuchel (KY’-kuhl) is 5-0 after holding Oakland to a run and three hits while striking out nine over 7 2/3s to lead Houston’s 7-2 win. Marwin Gonzalez hit a three-run homer to help Keuchel join Roger Clemens as the only Astros pitchers to win five games in April. Houston is 16-9 and atop the American League West by three games over the Los Angeles Angels.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Joey Logano held off teammate Brad Keselowski to win yesterday’s Monster Energy Cup race at Richmond. Logano pulled away after a restart with about 20 laps to go and earned the victory despite starting 37th due to a transmission change. Denny Hamlin was third, followed by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kevin Harvick.
