Dixie State Men’s Basketball Opens 2nd Half of RMAC Season This Weekend

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Friday and Saturday, Dixie State men’s basketball commences the second half of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Season on the Western Slope.

They will first face the Colorado Mesa Mavericks at Grand Junction, Colo. Friday and square off against Western Colorado Saturday at Gunnison, Colo.

The Trailblazers come in at 7-8 (5-6 in conference play) and have won two straight, taking victories at Colorado Christian and Regis last weekend.

Dixie State scores 71.7 points per game and surrenders 69.7 points per contest, having outscored opponents overall 1076-1046.

Their statistical star remains junior forward Matt Conway (17 points, 5.9 rebounds per game) while senior forward/center Austin Montgomery also scores in double figures with 10 points per game.

Colorado Mesa comes into Friday’s game at 12-5 and 7-4 in RMAC play.

The Mavericks play in many fast-paced games as they score 84.7 points per game while giving up 79.2 points per contest.

Senior guard Connor Nicholls nets 22.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest to lead the Mavericks.

The Trailblazers and Mavericks are 4-4 against each other all-time so regardless of the outcome, this will be a historic win for either program.

The Mountaineers are presently 3-14 and 0-11 in RMAC play.

Western Colorado surrenders 85.3 points per game and scores 77.4 points per contest.

Senior guard Brady Subart (13.8 points per game) leads the Mountaineers on the season

Dixie State is 2-0 all-time against Western Colorado, so the Mountaineers seek their first win against the Trailblazers in program history.
