OGDEN, Utah-Monday, Weber State football earned its highest preseason ranking in history as they are ranked eighth in the FCS preseason Top 25.
This ranking breaks the previous record of the #9 overall ranking in 2009.
This is also only the fifth time in program history that the Wildcats have been ranked in the preseason poll and is the first time in program history that they have been the highest-ranked Big Sky Conference squad.
Other Big Sky squads currently ranked nationally include Eastern Washington at #9 and Montana at #24.
Defending national champion North Dakota State is ranked #1 presently, with James Madison, South Dakota State and Sam Houston State rounding out the Top 4.
Weber State’s season opener is August 30 at Utah.
