SPANISH FORK, Utah-Lance Gehring amassed 18 points, including clutch 3-pointers in both the 4th Quarter and overtime as the Wasatch Wasps overpowered Maple Mountain 61-49 Friday in Region 8 boys basketball action.
The win was also noteworthy for Wasps head coach James Ballstaedt, who won his initial Region 8 game as the Wasatch High head coach.
In the victory, the Wasps also improved to 8-7 on the season. The Wasps are next on the air Tuesday at 7:00 pm as they host the Provo Bulldogs at the Nest in another key Region 8 tilt.

SPANISH FORK, Utah-MacKenzie McBride amassed 17 points and 6 rebounds as the Wasatch Wasps routed Maple Mountain 70-39 in Region 8 girls basketball action Friday. Kelsey Owens had 12 points in defeat for the Golden Eagles. The Wasps improved to 12-4 with the win.
