Wasatch High Girls Swimming Wins 5-A Title

HEBER CITY, Utah-Saturday, Wasatch High girls’ swimming captured the 5-A state championship by outlasting Timpview 254-252 at Brigham Young University.

The Wasatch girls’ freestyle teams each took state championships. The Wasps’ championship 200-freestyle relay squad consisted of Claire Kieffer, Addison Lay, Madi Christensen and Trevi Ogilvie.

The 400-freestyle relay squad that won a title for the Wasps featured Kieffer, Lay, Maddy Moulton and Maddie Sisneros.

The Wasps’ boys placed sixth overall with 149 points. Brighton’s boys took the state title, amassing 310 points.

Wasatch girls who placed in various events included Christensen placing 8th in the 200 freestyle, Sisneros, who was fourth in the 200 individual medley relay and 3rd in the 100 butterfly, Moulton, who was sixth in the 200 individual medley relay and 3rd in the 100 breaststroke and Kieffer, who was 2nd in the 50 freestyle and 3rd in the 100 freestyle. Ogilvie was 4th in the 50 freestyle as well.

For the boys individually, Braden Patterson was 7th in the 200 individual medley and fourth in the 100 freestyle. Oliver James was 6th in the 50 freestyle and 8th inthe 100 freestyle and Hunter Patterson was 8th in the 500 freestyle.
