HEBER CITY, Utah-While high school graduation and summer vacation await for Wasatch High School student-athletes, within four months, it will be football season again.
With that in mind, the Wasatch School District, via our friend at wasatchhighathletics.com, Steve Marsing, confirmed the release of the football participation agreement for summer camp and other football activities during the break.
This primarily concerns the Wasatch High School football camp June 4-8 at Wright-Tree Stadium, but also entails weight room activities and other things appertaining to the football program during the break.
If parents/guardians of student-athletes at Wasatch High School sign the agreement, this is a binding contract that confirms parents or guardians know the risks and hazards that could possibly befall their youths.
The agreement also states that if anything goes awry in the weight room or on the practice field during these activities, the parent or guardian will assume full responsibility, including a possible death of an athlete.
Furthermore, should the contract be agreed to, parents or guardians voluntarily “covenant not to sue” Wasatch County School District for anything that may happen.
Before the contract can be agreed to, parents/guardians must ensure their student-athletes are in proper health condition.
As part of its contribution to the contract, Wasatch County School District will provide medical treatment to attend to injured student-athletes if need be. However, all parents/guardians must certify their youths have adequate health insurance, or that they will pay for any needed medical costs.
Should any student-athlete be guilty of misconduct, as determined by the camp or offseason activities administrator, parents/guardians must pick up their youths and there will be no reimbursement of fees paid for the camp.
A photo release is also required, in the event that the school district may want to take photographs of the student-athletes in order to promote future camps.
