LAS VEGAS-Wednesday, after defeating Hartford 72-65 Monday, Utah Valley men’s basketball faces Long Beach State at the Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas as part of the MGM Resorts Main Event.
The 49ers advanced to playing the Wolverines in this game at 3:00 pm Wednesday afternoon by virtue of an 86-85 win over Iona on a thrilling buzzer-beater Monday.
In Monday’s win, Wolverines star senior guard Conner Toolson posted a season-high 23 points, along with seven rebounds.
The Wolverines will be meeting the 49ers for the first time in program history. This will be Utah Valley’s 11th all-time game against a school from the Big West Conference. The Wolverines are 4-6 all-time against Big West schools.
Long Beach State comes into this game with a record of 2-3 and is led by guard Deishaun Booker, a Las Vegas product who also starred at the College of Southern Idaho. The junior averages 15.6 points a game for the 49ers.
