LOGAN, Utah-Wednesday, the 15-5 (5-2 in Mountain West play) Utah State men’s basketball team hosts San Jose State at the Spectrum.

The Aggies have won six out of their last eight games, including a 68-66 win at New Mexico this past Saturday.

This past week, the Aggies also rewarded sophomore guard Abel Porter (who hit the game-winning 3-pointer at New Mexico) and redshirt freshman forward Justin Bean with scholarships for the remainder of the semester.

The Aggies score 78.5 points per game and surrender 65.6 points per contest.

Junior guard Sam Merrill (18.9 points per game) leads the Aggies, while freshman center Neemias Queta scores 10.9 points per game and nets 8.4 rebounds per contest.

Queta, a Portuguese national, has stepped up his game in conference play as he averages 13 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in Mountain West Conference action.

The Aggies lead the Mountain West in field goal percentage (47.6 percent shooting) as well as field goal percentage defense (38 percent shooting surrendered).

San Jose State comes into Logan with a record of 3-16 and 0-7 in Mountain West play.

The Spartans score 65.3 points per game and surrender 77.3 points per contest.

San Jose State is led by junior forward Michael Steadman (12.9 points, 8.6 rebounds per game) and junior guard Brae Ivey (10.6 points per game).

The Aggies lead the Spartans 61-22 all-time and have won 22 out of the last 23 games in the series.

The Aggies lead the Spartans 34-4 all-time at Logan and have won their last 26 games at Logan in the series.

Aggies head coach Craig Smith is currently fifth in program history for wins for a coach in his first season at the helm in Logan with 15 wins.
