Utah Men’s Basketball Roundup: 10/30

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Dwayne Morgan netted 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting and the Southern Utah Thunderbirds routed NAIA Life Pacific 96-53 in non-conference men’s basketball action at the America First Event Center Tuesday.

The Thunderbirds shot 52.2 percent for the game and made 14 3-pointers in building a 45-27 lead at the half.

Arizona State transfer Andre Adams added 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Cameron Oluyitan, a transfer from Boise State stepped up with 15 points in the win for SUU.

Freshman Josh Cornish added four three-pointers for 12 points on the evening.

Colin Cunniff had 12 points in the loss for the Warriors.

The Thunderbirds are next in action November 6 against the West Baptist College Eagles of the National Christian College Athletic Association.

OREM, Utah-Jake Toolson netted 22 points as the Utah Valley Wolverines routed Dixie State 88-70. Toolson, a redshirt junior out of Gilbert, Ariz., made 7 of 11 shots and all six of his free throws as Utah Valley led 39-35 at the half and ran away with the game from there, going on a 49-35 run in the second half.

Conner Toolson added 15 points in the win for the Wolverines, while Jack Pagenkopf posted 16 points on 3-3 shooting from the field in defeat for the Trailblazers.

Utah Valley hosts NCAA Division II Westminster of Salt Lake City November 6 in the regular season opener.
