Utah Men’s Basketball Reconvenes In Rivalry Against Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky.-Saturday, Utah men’s basketball returns to the hardwood at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. as they battle the Kentucky Wildcats for their final road non-conference game of the season.

This is the 12th all-time meeting between the squads, with the Wildcats leading the all-time series 9-2.

The Utes are 1-2 all-time at Rupp Arena, winning their only game at Lexington in 1976.

The Utes are only +6 (581-575) in scoring margin on the season, narrowly outscoring opponents 72.6-71.9 per contest. Guard Sedrick Barefield remains the Utes’ leading scorer on the season, averaging 14 points per game, along with 1.4 rebounds. Forward Donnie Tillman averages 11.4 points and 6.8 rebounds a game for the Utes as well.

Both the 4-4 Utes and 7-2 Wildcats are coming off of losses, as Utah fell 74-59 to BYU and Kentucky dropped an 84-83 game to Seton Hall.

The Wildcats are 7-0 at home this season and average 84.2 points per game while surrendering 71.3 points per contest.

Kentucky is led by freshman guard Keldon Johnson (15.2 points, 6 rebounds per game) and graduate transfer, forward Reid Travis, from Stanford (14.4 points, 6.8 rebounds per game).
