Utah Men’s Basketball Hosts Top 10 Nevada Saturday

SALT LAKE CITY-Saturday, Utah men’s basketball gets back into action as they host the #6 Nevada Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference at the Huntsman Center. Utah is 571-330 (.634) all-time against teams from the MWC, the conference the Utes belonged to before the Pac-12 invited them.

The Utes come into this tilt at 6-5 with Nevada sporting a perfect 12-0 record.

The Utes are 10-0 all-time against the Wolf Pack but this is the first meeting between the schools since 1987.

At the Huntsman Center this season, the Utes are 5-0 and have won their last eight home games.

One of the factors in Nevada’s undefeated start is their 9.5 turnovers per game, which ranks fourth nationally.

The Utes score 73.7 points per game and give up 71.7 points per contest.

Senior guard Sedrick Barefield continues to be the Utes’ statistical star, averaging a team-best 13.4 points per game.

The Wolf Pack have three potential NBA players on the roster with senior guard/forward Jordan Caroline (18.8 points, 9.6 rebounds per game) having amassed seven double-doubles on the season for Nevada.

Senior forward Caleb Martin (18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds per game) has been comparably stellar for the Wolf Pack.

Nevada averages 82.5 points per game, while surrendering only 67.2 points per contest.

This is the Utes’ last game before commencing conference play as they face Arizona State at Tempe, Ariz. January 3 and Arizona at Tucson, Ariz. January 5.
