Utah Football Hosts Blackout Game Against Washington

SALT LAKE CITY-Saturday, Utah football, off to a 2-0 start, hosts Washington in the annual blackout game.

During this game against the Pac-12 favorite and College Football Playoff contender Huskies, fans are encouraged to wear black attire and “black out” Rice-Eccles Stadium.

This is the 11th all-time “blackout” in Utah football history and the Utes are 8-2 in such games, beating Texas Christian, Wyoming, Oregon State, California, USC, Oregon State and UCLA. The Utes’ two losses came at the hands of Texas Christian and UCLA.

The Huskies have dominated the Utes all-time as they lead 10-1 in a series dating back to 1931.

Washington is 2-0 all-time in the series at Salt Lake City, prevailing in 2011 and 2016.

The Huskies come in ranked #10/#12 in the nation and the Utes are 0-3 all-time against Washington when the Huskies come into the match-up as a ranked squad, losing in 1979, 2016 and 2017.
