SUU Men’s Golf Prepares For Season Opener At Air Force Friday

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Friday, Southern Utah University’s men’s golf squad commences its fall season at the Air Force Miranda Invitational at Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Thunderbirds are coming off a highly successful season resulting in the team’s second-place finish at the Big Sky Conference Tournament last season. Northern Colorado took the championship.

The Thunderbirds are expected to be led by sophomore Jake Vincent of Palm Desert, Calif. who averaged 72.28 shots per round last season with a low of 67. Vincent amassed four top-10 finishes throughout the course of the season, placing fourth at the Big Sky championships.

Other projected standouts for SUU include sophomore Ali Hameed of Gilbert, Ariz., freshman Sam Butler of Riverside, Calif. and freshman Austin Jaramillo of Roosevelt, Utah.

At this invitational, the Thunderbirds will compete against Abilene Christian, host Air Force, Colorado, Drake, Missouri State, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, SIU-Edwardsville, Texas State, UC Davis, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State and Wyoming.
