SUU Football At Oregon State Saturday, Seeking First All-Time Pac-12 Win

CORVALLIS, Ore.-Saturday, Southern Utah University football seeks to overcome the ill effects of  a 34-30 upset loss to North Alabama last week, by facing Pac-12 foe Oregon State at Corvallis, Ore.

In his first career Division I start, Thunderbirds quarterback Chris Helbig completed 28 of 38 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, SUU was led by safety Kyle Hannemann who posted an interception in the loss.

SUU is 0-4 all-time against Pac-12 schools, having previously lost to Oregon, Utah, Washington State and California.

After playing the Beavers Saturday, the Thunderbirds will compete against another Pac-12 school at Tucson, Ariz. September 15 against the Arizona Wildcats.

The Beavers are led by tailback Artavis Pierce, who in a 77-31 loss to Ohio State last Saturday, amassed 168 yards on 11 carries (15.3 yards per carry) and two touchdowns.

Additionally, receiver Trevon Bradford was solid for Oregon State against the Buckeyes, hauling in six receptions for 104 yards and two scores.
