MOSCOW, Idaho-Wednesday, at Day 2 of the Big Sky track and field championships, the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon titles were decided, setting the stage for the commencement of all other events Thursday.
Donte Robinson of Portland State won the men’s decathlon title with 7307 points, while Southern Utah’s Erik Ostrom finished seventh overall, posting 6168 points. Weber State’s Caleb Whitney finished in ninth, posting 6037 points.
In the women’s heptathlon, Idaho State’s Ashley Vanvleet won the title, netting 5105 points while Jentry Skidmore of Southern Utah finished eighth overall with 4474 points.
Thursday’s action commences at 11:00 am MDT with preliminary events, starting with the women’s hammer throw.
LAWRENCE, Kan.-As the first day of the WAC track and field championships commenced at the University of Kansas, the meet primarily consisted of men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon competition.
Presently, Grand Canyon’s Grant Carpenter is the leader in the men’s decathlon, having posted 3526 points. Josh Thomas of Utah Valley is in fourth place with 3182 points.
In the women’s heptathlon, the current leader is Grand Canyon’s Ashley Krawczuk with 2904 points. Utah Valley’s Sara Ohlwiler is in sixth place with 2652 points.
The meet resumes Thursday.
FRESNO, Calif.-Wednesday, as the Mountain West track and field championships commenced, the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon got things underway. In the decathlon, Calvin Berstler of Air Force is the current leader with 3709 points.
For the women, in the heptathlon, Jestena Mattson of Fresno State has the lead with 3332 points. Utah State’s Talie Bonds is in fourth place with 3233 points and her teammate, Niki Xydona, is in 7th place with 2972 points. Also in the mix for the Aggies in the heptathlon is Alyssa Hirschi, who is in 11th place with 2780 points.
