Frank Maile, Stacy Collins, Remain on USU Football Staff

LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, Utah State football head coach Gary Andersen confirmed assistant head coach/tight ends coach Frank Maile would stay on the staff.

This follows up a late Monday announcement that Stacy Collins would remain the Aggies’ running backs/special teams coach.

Andersen will also serve as the defensive line coach, per statements from utahstateaggies.com.

Maile served as the interim coach during Saturday’s New Mexico Bowl, a 52-13 thrashing of North Texas at Albuquerque, N.M.

Maile is a native of West Valley City, Utah and starred at Sandy’s Alta High School and later played for the Aggies from 2004-2007.

While at Utah State, he amassed 71 tackles (19 for a loss) and one fumble recovery.

Collins has 21 years of coaching experience, including 14 years as a coordinator and four years as a head coach at the collegiate level.

As the head coach of the NCAA Division II South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers from 2012-2015, he netted 16 victories, making him the sixth-winningest coach in school history.

Collins played at Division II Western Oregon from 1993-1997 as a linebacker and twice coached in the Division II playoffs, while at Central Washington (2008 and 2009).

Collins played an instrumental role in the 2018 Aggies defense that leads the nation in forced turnovers (32), interceptions (22) and three and outs forced per game (5.58).

The Aggies also rank third nationally with six defensive touchdowns.
