Dixie State Punter Named As an NCAA Division II All-American

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Dixie State freshman punter Josh Carlson was named as an NCAA Division II first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association Wednesday.

Carlson, a 6-0 165-pound native of Gilbert, Ariz., became the top punter in Division II by setting a new single-season program record of 45.7 yards per boot.

Carlson also posted 17 punts of at least 50 yards, including a program-record 81-yard punt September 1 at Colorado State-Pueblo.

He also placed 14 punts inside the 20-yard line.

He is the third player in the program’s Division II history to earn All-American honors and the first since tight end Joe Don Duncan in 2013.
