ODESSA, Texas-Ricky Nunez scored the game-winning goal in double overtime as the Dixie State Trailblazers doubled up Texas-Permian Basin 2-1 Thursday in NCAA Division II non-conference men’s soccer action.
The Falcons struck first late in the first half with a goal from Jacob Tellez, but the Trailblazers stayed resolute, giving themselves a chance to steal the match late.
Moises Medina scored for the Trailblazers with 10:49 left in regulation to set the table for Nunez’s heroics.
The Trailblazers were the aggressors throughout the match as they out-shot the Falcons, 20-8, including a 15-3 advantage in the second half and overtime periods.
Dixie State returns home Saturday to face Ottawa (Ariz.) for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Trailblazer Stadium.
