Dixie State Football Picked Fourth in RMAC Preseason Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Monday, Dixie State football was selected to finish fourth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at the RMAC’s Kickoff media day.

Two Trailblazers were named to the preseason All-RMAC team as well, senior offensive lineman Tevita Tolutau of Provo’s Timpview High School and senior defensive lineman Remington Kelly of Bountiful, Utah and Bountiful High School.

At the media session, the Trailblazers were repped by head coach Shay McClure, Tolutau and junior safety Mike Jones.

The prohibitive favorite to win the RMAC is the Colorado State-Pueblo Thunderwolves, who netted 98 first-place votes from RMAC coaches.

Colorado Mesa was selected to finish second, followed by the Colorado School of Mines in third place.

Selected to finish fifth was Chadron State, with South Dakota Mines picked to finish sixth. Black Hills State was selected to finish seventh while rounding out the polls were Fort Lewis, Adams State, Western State and New Mexico Highlands.

The Trailblazers return four starters on offense from last season, including star junior tailback Sei-J Lauago of Paramount, Calif.

In eight games in 2017, Lauago ran for 803 yards and five scores.

The Trailblazers also return eight defensive starters, led by Jones, who had 84 tackles on the season.

The Trailblazers will commence fall camp Monday August 6.
