BYU Men’s Basketball Names Team Captains

PROVO, Utah-Per information released late Tuesday by byucougars.com, BYU men’s basketball head coach Dave Rose announced his team captains for the 2018-19 season.

By the voice of their teammates, senior forward Luke Worthington of Mequon, Wis. and junior guard TJ Haws of Alpine, Utah, were appointed to these positions.

Worthington returns as a captain from last season and averaged 4.3 points and 2.8 rebounds for a Cougars squad that won 24 games and received an at-large bid to the postseason NIT tournament.

He was also a West Coast Conference all-academic honorable mention recipient and received bronze honors on the WCC Commissioner’s honor roll. He also earned a spot on the NABC Honors Court.

Haws averaged 11.7 points and a team-best 4.2 assists last season and was second on the squad with 50 3-point field goals while also netting 43 steals.

He received WCC honorable mention honors and was named to the WCC all-academic team.

The Cougars are in action on the hardwood this evening at 7:00 pm against the NCAA Division II Saint Martin’s Saints of Lacey, Wash. in an exhibition match-up.
