BYU Men’s Basketball Announces 2018-19 Non-Conference Schedule

PROVO, Utah-Per reports Thursday, BYU men’s basketball has announced its non-conference schedule which consists of eight regular season home games, a challenging road schedule, four in-state games and a pair of high-profile contests on neutral courts.

Seven of the Cougars’ non-conference foes made postseason appearances in 2018, while three of them, Nevada, Houston (BYU head coach Dave Rose’s alma mater) and San Diego State, made the NCAA Tournament.

The 2018-19 season commences November 6 as the Cougars travel to Reno, Nev. to face the Nevada Wolf Pack.

The Wolf Pack features three potential NBA first-round draft picks in Jordan Caroline, Cody Martin and Caleb Martin.

This represents the first time BYU has started the season on the road since the 2011-12 season.

The Cougars then host Utah Valley November 9 for their first home game of the season.

They then host the Northwestern State Demons November 13, Oral Roberts November 15, Alabama A&M November 17 and Rice November 21.

After hosting the Houston Cougars November 24, BYU will travel to Illinois State November 28 and play at Weber State December 1.

The Cougars then host Utah State December 5 and will play hated rival Utah December 8 at Vivint Smart Home Arena in downtown Salt Lake City.

The non-conference schedule ends with four straight teams that won 20-plus games in 2017-18 as on December 12, the Cougars face Portland State and they will face UNLV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for another neutral site game on December 15.

The Cougars conclude the non-conference season by facing San Diego State on December 22 and Mississippi State December 29.

The annual Cougar tipoff is slated for October 19 at the Marriott Center and will be followed by exhibitions on October 24 and November 1.
