BYU Gymnastics Names Team Captains Ahead of Upcoming Season

PROVO, Utah-Late Wednesday, BYU Gymnastics announced its team captains ahead of the upcoming season.

They are Shannon Evans of American Fork, Utah and Natasha Marsh of Tucson, Ariz.

Evans was a second-team All-American last season after placing seventh on bars at the NCAA National Championships last April, posting a 9.900 score.

Evans also became the Cougars’ first All-American in 14 years.

Evans was also an eight-time recipient of the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Specialist of the Week award, netting four such honors for her excellence on the bars.

In 2018, Marsh posted career-high scores on the bars (9.875) and beam (9.900).

The graduate of Sahuaro High School on the eastern side of Tucson earned a 9.800 or higher on beam in eight consecutive meets.

She was named as the MRGC specialist of the week twice last season, once for her bars routine against Air Force and another on the beam against Utah State.
