BYU Football Hires Eric Mateos As Offensive Line Coach



PROVO, Utah-Thursday, BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake announced the hiring of Eric Mateos as the Cougars’ new offensive line coach.

Mateos comes to Provo after spending two seasons in the Sun Belt Conference at Texas State as the Bobcats’ offensive line coach.

Prior to this, Mateos was at LSU as the Tigers’ tight ends coach in 2016.

Mateos also spent time at Arkansas as a graduate assistant for the Razorbacks under offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

Mateos entered the coaching ranks in 2011 at NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist, where he had starred for the Bearcats in 2009 and 2010.

Mateos is a 2011 graduate of Southwest Baptist and earned his master’s from Arkansas in 2015.
