SALT LAKE CITY-Utah sophomore receiver Britain Covey was named to the Academic All-District football first team per a Thursday announcement from the College Sports Information Directors of America.
He will now be on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Covey, a graduate of Provo’s Timpview High School, is a business major with a 3.85 GPA.
The swift Covey leads the Utes with 54 receptions for 603 yards and 60.3 yards per game on the season.
Covey has 988 all-purpose yards and as a former high school quarterback, he has completed all three of his pass attempts on the season for 71 yards and a scoring strike.
The 5-8 170-pound Covey has a career high of 129 receiving yards in a game, which was set in a 17-6 win at Northern Illinois September 8.
