OGDEN, Utah-(Deseret News) Per a report in the Deseret News, the Utah State Board of Regents has named a new interim president at Weber State University.
The report, released Monday afternoon, states Weber State University administrator Norm Tarbox will be the new interim president, effective May 1.
Tarbox has been Weber State’s vice president of administrative services since 2002 and he will return to his current role as soon as the board of regents completes the presidential search.
In January, former Weber State president Charles A. Wight announced he would step down as he is a finalist in searches for presidents at other universities.
It is anticipated that Weber State will have a new president by the end of the year.
Tarbox was appointed to this position this past Friday at St. George during the board of regents’ most recent meeting.
Tarbox previously served as associate commissioner for finance and facilities in the Utah System of Higher Education from 2000-2002 and as assistant commissioner from 1996-2000.
Tarbox earned a doctorate degree in educational leadership and policy from the University of Utah and he has two degrees from Brigham Young University, a master’s in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in communications.
He also has an associate degree from Snow College.
