Woman and Unborn Child Die Three Days After Being Injured In U.S. Highway 40 Crash

PROVO, Utah-Per a report from FOX 13 News in Salt Lake City, a woman and her unborn child died Tuesday afternoon, three days after being involved in a crash on U.S. Highway 40 in Wasatch County.

The Utah Highway Patrol confirmed this crash as fatal at 3:45 pm Tuesday.

Saturday, Shantell and Macoy Young of Duchesne County were on U.S. 40 Saturday when a car that turned out to be stolen crossed lanes, crashing into their Audi.

Shantell Young suffered serious injuries, including a brain injury. Doctors had been waiting for her brain swelling to subside at the time of her death.

Macoy Young suffered multiple broken bones and underwent surgery on his aortic artery.

The car that hit the Youngs was driven by Tyson Uresti, who swerved into incoming traffic to cause the accident.

Uresti then fled the scene on foot but was later caught by responding officers.

Uresti was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Wasatch County Jail in Heber City.

Police learned the Ford Explorer he was driving had recently been stolen out of Duchesne County, according to a release.
