Dollar Ridge Fire Evacuees Allowed To Return Home Tuesday

DUCHESNE COUNTY/WASATCH COUNTY, Utah-

Utah Wildfire reports that as of 6:00 am Wednesday, Russ Bird of Great Basin Team 5 took control of the blaze. Fire restriction orders are still in place. These include a ban on setting, building, maintaining, attending to or using any open fires, except within designated locations. Additionally, smoking, except within an enclosed place, is not permitted under any circumstances. Fireworks and tracer ammunition are also not allowed as is cutting, welding or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation. Finally, the operation of a motorcycle, chainsaw,  ATV or anything else with a small internal combustion engine without an approved and working spark arrestor is not allowed.

Utah Wildfire reports another blaze has commenced in the region just six miles north of the Strawberry Pinnacles turnoff on U.S. Highway 40. This is known as the Santaquin Fire which started at 2:30 pm Tuesday. It has presently burned 30 acres and its cause is unknown.

This afternoon, portions of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Ashley National Forest remain temporarily closed. It is anticipated that through Pioneer Day weekend in Utah, that these roads will remain closed. Drivers will find road blocks in these areas to divert them from driving there.

Reports from the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest state authorities believe this was a human-caused blaze although it remains under investigation. If you’d like to call the fire information line, you can do so by calling 738-0037. Those interested can call from 8:00 am-8:00 pm.

Tuesday 8:55 am

Utah Wildfire reports the Dollar Ridge Fire is 85 percent contained, having torched 56,734 acres thus far. Zone D-1 has turned into a pre-evacuation level this afternoon at noon. This ruling extends to residents only. This area consists of County Road 11500, Strawberry River Road to the county line and Timber Canyon Road to the forest service boundary.

The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest announces Forest Service Road #090, located alongside the east side of Soldier Creek is now open for public use. The same is also true for the Aspen Grove Campground and Marina, the forest reports. These places were closed down because of the Dollar Ridge Fire.

KSL.com reports residents of homes forced to evacuate because of the Dollar Ridge Fire will be able to return to their homes Tuesday. However, the public cannot go on the land until “around July 25.”
