Heber Valley Parkway Gets Attention of Local Citizens at Open House.

Heber Valley Parkway Gets Attention of Local Citizens at Open House.

The proposed Heber Valley Parkway had the attention of citizens living in the Southwest part of Heber City. A new proposed, option C creates an alternative highway 40 that brings the expressway closer to existing neighborhoods. The purpose of the parkway is to address growth and provide a reliable transportation system for residents, visitors and commuters in Heber Valley. UDOT has been working with Wasatch County and Heber City to study Main Street traffic and is working with Mountainland Associations of Governments to develop three proposals for alternative routes based on traffic and population projections. The project continues in the corridor planning study phase and is taking public input before it moves into the environmental study which will take 2 – 3 years. No timeline for construction has been developed because no funding has been secured. A public comment period is open now through March 6, or send your questions or comments to hebervalleycorridor@utah.gov. The goal of the parkway is to alleviate specific types of traffic from Heber City’s Main Street, reduce congestion and provide an opportunity for Main Street to become a more visitor-friendly destination.
